PetSmart is United Together to acknowledge and celebrate December as one of the most festive months of the year, as it is marked by multicultural events and celebrations worldwide. While celebrating Inclusive Holidays, there is a world of opportunities throughout the month to connect, learn more, and foster PetSmart’s culture of belonging. While the below is not an exhaustive list, it outlines several holidays celebrated among various cultures and heritages.

- Hanukkah (Jewish) – December 7th – December 15th
- Las Posadas (Mexican and Latin American) – December 16th – December 24th
- Winter Solstice (Pagan) – December 21st
- Christmas (Christian) – December 25th
- Boxing Day (Australian, Canadian, English, Irish) – December 26th
- Kwanzaa (African American, pan-African) – December 26th
- Omisoka (Japanese) – December 31st

While the holidays can be a joy-filled season, they can also be stressful and challenging. Because of this, the holidays are a time to give to family and friends and give back to others. Statistics show that 1 in 4 adults routinely give back year-round and that volunteerism typically increases by 50% during November and December. Giving back at any point, including during the holidays, offers hope to those who need it most.
Did you know… PetSmart’s Paid Volunteer Time (PVT) policy provides each associate a bank of hours to use at approved volunteer events or activities for the causes we care most about. Associates can volunteer as an individual or a team event, like our PRIDE parades. Volunteering and PetSmart’s culture of Belonging go hand in hand. By giving back to the communities we serve, you’re helping PetSmart advance our mission and bring our values of Passion for Pets and People and United Together to life.
While entering volunteer time can be seen as one more task, it’s a critical step to help us track our combined impact. Each year, if every associate volunteered 4 hours of their time and talents, we could collectively donate more than $6.5 million in value to organizations helping enrich our communities.
